Individual Coaching

So What is Recovery Coaching?

I’m a She Recovers Coach so I subscribe to the idea that we’re all recovering from something. It could be drugs and alcohol, burn out, codependency, disordered eating, PTSD, sexual trauma, workaholism, broken heart, financial chaos…the list goes on (that’s my list, by the way). Although I mostly serve women in recovery from drugs and alcohol, a lot of the time those things are just symptoms covering up bigger issues and, really, who doesn’t have underlying pain?

Relapse Prevention

Perhaps you’re in a place where you’ve decided you need help to stop doing whatever it is you’re doing that’s causing you harm. It could be that despite all the will power and promises to yourself, you haven’t been able to quit. It’s scary when you feel like you’re out of control. I will work with you to create a relapse prevention plan that helps reduce that fear, addresses the unhelpful patterns, and keeps you on track with your recovery.

Combating Isolation and Gaining Connection

The hardest thing to do is to recover alone. Sometimes the shame and guilt will keep us isolated and in our heads, feeling like no one could possibly understand what we’re going through. Some find the connection they need in 12 step recovery programs or other groups. But what happens when you just don’t feel good about walking into a room full of strangers and laying bare your biggest secrets? Whether you’re in the same town as me or not, I will help you find your tribe, encourage you seek out connection in ways that feel good to you.

Spiritual Practice

Before I came into recovery I had no spiritual life, I didn’t even really know what it meant. All I knew is I wanted some peace and the only way I knew how to achieve that was by getting loaded. Having some sort of practice (and that’s the key word, practice) is so important to our recovery. The beautiful thing about it is it’s really up to us what that looks like and how we engage with it. I will take you through some exercises to explore what it means to be spiritually engaged and help you develop a plan to practice the things that bring you peace.

Goal Setting and Accountability

What would coaching be without it? Sometimes we know what our goals are, sometimes we don’t. Sometimes we need to revisit the ones that don’t fit anymore. Quite often our goals are focused on things we want to have or achieve and, while there’s nothing wrong with that, I’m more interested in how you want to feel when those goals are realized. They might be big or small, life altering or subtle shifts, it’s all about getting unstuck from where you are and moving towards positive change. Oh, and yes, I will occasionally hold your feet to the fire in a loving way.
